Remembering Katie Baerg: A Loving Wife, Mother, and Friend
The community is mourning the loss of Katie Baerg, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Katie passed away recently at the age of 39, leaving behind her husband Nicholas of 18 years and their three children, Abby, Jack and Molly.
A Dedicated Mother
Katie's greatest joy in life was her three children. She loved watching them grow and succeed in their activities like Bluewater Cheer and Lambton Sting Hockey. She was incredibly proud of the amazing young adults they were becoming. Katie always made sure she attended their events and competitions, cheering them on. As a mother, she nurtured their development and encouraged them to pursue their passions. Her devotion to her children was unmatched.
A Caring Friend
In addition to being a wonderful mother, Katie was a caring friend to many. She continually went out of her way to plan special weekends and events for her friends, always putting others first. Katie had a talent for bringing people together and helping them bond through shared experiences. Her friends frequently share funny stories and memories of times spent with Katie. She touched many lives through her compassion and thoughtfulness.
Her Warm Nature
Katie had a remarkable capacity for empathy and responding to others with compassion. Her warm-hearted nature fostered strong relationships, as people felt comfortable opening up to her. She thoughtfully comforted friends during difficult times with kind words and deeds. Katie's compassion extended beyond her close circle to her wider community. She was dedicated to helping those in need and making people feel cared for.
Her Last Days
In Katie's final days, she was cared for with immense compassion at St. Joseph's Hospice. The staff, especially Kristine, provided wonderful support during this difficult time. Although Katie has passed, the memories of her lighthearted spirit and kind soul will live on in all those she touched. She will be dearly missed, though never forgotten.
Mourning Her Passing
Katie's passing at such a young age of 39 has shocked and saddened the community. The outpouring of grief on social media shows just how many lives she impacted. Friends and family will deeply miss her loving presence. Katie leaves behind her heartbroken husband Nicholas, their three children Abby, Jack and Molly, as well as her parents Edward and Kathy Pendle and siblings Shawn and Jessica.
Honoring Her Life
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 7-9pm at Smith Funeral Home to honor Katie's life. A funeral service will follow on Friday, August 25 at 11am, also at Smith Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Sarnia. While her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew her, Katie's memory will live on through their stories, photos, and the examples she set as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her compassionate spirit touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.
