Ryan Murphy Reveals His Young Son Ford Is Cancer Free
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has the best reason in the world to celebrate. His young son Ford is now cancer-free.
Variety’s Power of Women, Murphy was thrilled to share his 5-year-old son is no longer battling cancer.
“My baby had a tumor the size of a tennis ball at 18 months growing behind his abdominal wall, and the doctor said this was bad. The first person I called was Dana, who is the godmother to both Ford and our older son, Logan. And Dana instantly charged into action as she does. In a day, thanks to her knowledge and acumen and understanding, we were at Children’s Hospital. So, she organized the whole thing as I was getting sick in a bathroom,” Murphy said while presenting an award to Dana Walden.

People magazine is reporting he was very emotional during the speech, Murphy soldiered on though to not only praise his friend. Walden helped his family through a challenging time.
“Ford went through a six-hour surgery and years of intense exams which required hours and hours of anesthesia. I cannot express to you in this room how difficult this was on him, how difficult this was on our family. I still have not emotionally recovered, to be honest. But Ford has. He turned five a week ago. And I’m so proud to proclaim that he is cancer-free,” the 53-year-old proudly shared with attendees.
According to the American Cancer Society, “neuroblastoma starts in certain very early forms of nerve cells, most often found in an embryo or fetus. It is a type of cancer “occurs most often in infants and young children. It is rare in children older than ten years.”

Ryan Murphy went on to share that going through his son’s ordeal taught him several valuable lessons. One is how fortunate his family was to have the resources to spare no expense for Ford’s care. It is a situation he wants to help change.
“We must help, and we must be prepared, and we must be proactive. There is now a wing dedicated under Ford’s name that specializes in helping children without our resources. Children without a champion like we had in Dana Walden,” he revealed.

Murphy and his husband David Miller are also parents to 6-year-old son Logan. The famous Hollywood writer and his husband wed in 2012.
